How much does an AI agent cost for a small business in Southeast Wisconsin?
Custom AI agents are quoted at $5,000 to $30,000 up front almost everywhere. We run a fleet of our own agents to operate Denecke Media, and we sell the same thing to local businesses by the month: from $49.99, no setup fee. Here is what moves the price, and a calculator.

What moves the price
Five things that change what an AI agent costs
Read or act
An agent that reads your data and reports is cheap to run and safe. An agent that changes records, replies to people or takes actions needs guardrails, confirmations and testing. That is the gap between $49.99 and $99.99.
Ready-made or custom
Our Marcus agents already exist and run for us every day, so you pay a subscription, not a build. An agent for your own mix of systems is built at $100 an hour first, then runs from $149 a month.
How many systems
Each system the agent reads or updates is its own connection. LeadWiseSystem is built in. QuickBooks, Square, your calendar or a text service are custom work.
How much it talks
AI usage is the real running cost everyone hides. Ours is included, 300 messages a month on the Assistant, with a spend cap on our side so nothing loops on your bill.
Where it lives
Slack is included and we set one up for you if you don't have one. Email or text delivery, or a web dashboard, is custom.
Changes after launch
The brief changes as your business does. One round of changes is included in the first 30 days; after that, changes are $100 an hour, estimated first.

What would an agent cost you?
A starting estimate from our published rates, not a quote. Marcus plans are 12-month subscriptions with no setup fee. Custom agents are scoped and estimated in writing before any work starts. Not taxable in Wisconsin.
Questions owners ask
AI agent cost questions from Wisconsin and Illinois business owners
How much does an AI agent cost for a small business?
Published 2026 guides put a custom-built agent at $5,000 to $30,000 or more up front, a no-code setup at $1,000 to $10,000, and all-in platforms at $500 to $5,000 a month. Denecke Media sells ready-made agents by subscription instead: a daily report agent for $49.99 a month, a two-way assistant for $99.99 a month, both on a 12-month term with no setup fee, and custom agents from $149 a month plus build time at $100 an hour.
What does the report agent actually do?
Marcus, Report Only, posts a Morning Brief into your Slack at 7:00 AM Central: to-dos due or overdue, quotes needing follow-up, new leads and approved quotes, and progress on your goals, plus a new-lead alert usually within 15 minutes. It reads your LeadWiseSystem account and never changes anything or messages your customers.
What does the two-way assistant add?
Everything in Report Only plus chat in Slack. Ask about leads, quotes, jobs and goals, and have Marcus update LeadWiseSystem for you: add notes, move a lead's stage, set follow-ups, log calls. It confirms each change. 300 messages a month are included; more are $10 per 100 on request.
Do I need LeadWiseSystem?
Yes for the two Marcus plans; they read and update LeadWiseSystem. A custom agent can work with other systems and deliver by email or text; that is scoped and built at $100 an hour.
Are there hidden AI costs?
No. The subscription includes the AI usage. We cap each customer's AI spend on our side so a runaway loop can never show up on your bill, and there is a pause button.
Is there a setup fee or contract?
No setup fee on the two Marcus plans. Both are 12-month subscriptions. One round of changes to the brief is included in the first 30 days; after that changes are $100 an hour, estimated first. You can upgrade from Report Only to Assistant anytime.
Is an AI agent taxable in Wisconsin?
No. The agent subscriptions and custom agent work are not subject to Wisconsin sales tax.
